Curtis Minor

Curtis Minor is in his 11th year as a Choral Music Educator for the Bentonville School District. In his first five years in Bentonville, his choirs at Washington Junior High School grew from 300 singers to 430 singers in seven choirs. Currently, Curtis is in his 6th year at Fulbright Junior High in Bentonville where the choirs have grown from 200 singers to almost 400 singers in the last two years. His choirs consistently receive superior ratings at region festivals and national competitions. Curtis holds a Bachelor of Vocal Music Education from Arkansas Tech University, where he studied under Gary Morris, Holly Ruth Gale, and Louis Welcher. Professionally, Curtis is an active member of the Arkansas Choral Directors Association and serves as Chair of the Northwest Region! He is an active adjudicator, speaker, and clinician in Arkansas and surrounding states. For the last ten years, Curtis has been chosen to be a faculty member of the Arkansas Choral Connection Choir Camp at the University of Central Arkansas.

Jennifer Powell

Mezzo-soprano, Jennifer Powell, has taught private voice lessons for several years and served on the voice faculty at Missouri State University, Rockhurst University, and Tennessee University.

While serving on faculty, she has taught private voice lessons, music history, and Italian, German, French, and English diction. She has also made a presence in major opera houses around the country. Opera News stated, “the best singing came from young artist Jennifer Powell, as a strong, affecting Mamma Lucia” in the production of Cavalleria Rusticana at Opera Theater of St. Louis. During two consecutive summers at the renowned Santa Fe Opera, audiences enjoyed Ms. Powell’s portrayal of Giovanna in Verdi’s Rigoletto and as a devoted confidant, Alisa, in Lucia di Lammermoor. The role of Jesse in the New York premier of William Mayer’s, A Death in the Family, immediately found favor with the New York Times, while her work with New York Chamber Opera made for a lasting impression. Jennifer has also earned success in more intimate settings with her dramatic artistry, and has performed several roles over three seasons with Kansas City Lyric Opera. She has gone on to sing at the Metropolitan Opera and as a featured soloist throughout the United States.

Jennifer is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and has received several national awards and recognition that include being a Metropolitan Opera Regional Finalist, and Sara Tucker Grant Nominee.

Jennifer holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Missouri State University.

 

Dax DRiggs
|Voice

Dax Driggs, a native of Alma, AR, will graduate in December 2024 with a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Music Education and a minor in English from Arkansas Tech University. Dax has excelled in his studies and will graduate Summa Cum Laude and a member of the Arkansas Tech University Honors Program. During his tenure at Arkansas Tech, Dax studied voice with Dr. Barbara Clements and placed top five in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional Competition in 2020-21 and 2023-24. Dax worked as a summer staff counselor at Camp War Eagle for 3 years from 2021-2023. Dax has led worship music at various churches and collegiate ministries for the past five years.

Dax enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and kayaking, especially at the Buffalo River. Dax is enthusiastic about a career in music education, aiming to inspire the next generation of musicians.

Luanne McLaughlin

|Voice/Piano

Luanne started performing publicly at the age of 3 years singing at church and community events. She started taking piano lessons at the age of 8 years which led to her accompanying soloist, choral and theatrical productions by the time she was in high school. She has spent her years performing in Elizabethan Concert dinners, the Eugene Vocal Arts Ensemble, and accompanying many musicals, operas, and orchestras. Luanne has been teaching privately for over 45 years to all ages and skill levels in piano and voice. She has a Masters in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Human Service Management from the University of Phoenix, and double Major in Music, Piano and Voice from the California Statue University, Stanislaus. SHe has spent her years as private and public-school teacher, teaching K - 12, specifically in music. She also taught college courses in Music Appreciation. Since moving to Arkansas this past March, she is currently a member of her church’s choir program and plays the piano at church. She has the capability of teaching music theory, improvisation, sight-reading and ear tuning to all students. Luanne is excited to inspire and teach interested musicians!

 

JEnna Bush

Jenna has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brigham Young University - Idaho.

Jenna have been singing since she was 8 years old and has been involved in music performance since then. She trained in New York in the summer of 2006 and 2007. She performed in the chorus of the Oratorio, "Emmett Till", while she was there. In 2007-2008, she was a member and soloist of Light Entertainment Company out of Mesa, Arizona. They performed scenes from various musicals locally and around the country.

Some of her skills include: She is focused and hardworking. She has a musical performance background. She also has knowledge of German, French, Latin, Italian, English and Spanish singing diction. She has excellent listening skills, a large vocal range, knowledge of different musical genres and styles, as well as knowledge of proper breathing technique.

We enjoy having Jenna as part of our teaching team.
